Enough is Enough

These past few weeks have been heart breaking for me..... while all the news is going on around me about violence against women  I am in the midst of an on going legal battle defending my 10 year old daughter who was victim to a “child approach” .  A man kissed hugged and frightened my 10yr old daughter trying to take her home.....

How are all my sisters holding up with these few weeks of news in Australia?

for me I am tired, I am angry, I am frustrated that people can’t HEAR what the issue is.... we women are tired of being scared for our safety, tired of being presented as the perpetrator to our own victimisation.... “why was my 10yr old busking?” “Why was she so drunk?” “She shouldn’t have been out so late” “what did she expect?”

Over my 42 yrs of life I have had my fair share of assaults, workplace harassment’s, watching my daughters be victims of abuse at school, telling my girls that being asleep isn’t a “yes” to sex and he had no right,  and so much more which I won’t go into.... today I am angry. It is a pent up anger which I often say I feel sorry for the next guy who tries to harass me as he will feel the wrath of years of abuse..
and as I read the comments online to the story of Brittany Higgins I see I am not the only one.... women are mad.  Women are tired of explaining and women are angry.... this is the straw that has broken the collectives backs.....

what do we want? We want to feel love, we want to feel safe, we want to feel cherished, we want to be able to go out with friends and get home safely, we want to be able to do our job without having to play a game to keep it, we want to be able to work without having to smile and giggle at the disgusting comments some men give about our breasts or sexiness, we want our daughters to be able to go to school without being told “you should be raped”, we want our daughters to be able to go their local shops without fear of being abused.... is this too much to ask?
I am glad the collective women of Australia are mad, we should be..... I just hope that this organic uprising of women will be strong enough to make a change.....

raise your boys with courage to say something when their mates are being putrid, raise your daughters to be strong enough to say no and report issues as they arise, raise your daughters to uphold the sisterhood to believe and support their friends as needed.... for a collective is needed to make a significant change in today’s society.... we will NOT be thankful for not being shot while protesting for our rights, we will not be satisfied with mediocre phone lines for support.  We want this to stop, we want the collective to see this is not ok and we want the collective to STEP UP and STEP IN when we see wrong doings going on.... this is the only way we can make a difference to the lives of women....

trust me guys.... your life will be much happier when your mothers, daughters, sisters lives are safer, happier and equal to yours.
